DD Ranks High on "Franchise 500"

Paducah, KY - Ice Cream Franchisor Dippin' Dots is once again ranked among North America's best franchise companies.
Entrepreneur Magazine ranks Dippin' Dots Franchising, Inc. number 112 on its "Franchise 500®" list for 2008. The latest ranking marks Dippin' Dots' fifth appearance in seven years in the magazine's yearly ranking of top franchisors from the United States and Canada. Dippin' Dots Franchising made Entrepreneur's list in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. During that period, the company also earned spots on the magazine's "Top New Franchise" and "Fastest Growing Franchise" rankings.
Curt Jones, CEO, says the ranking is a positive reflection on the company and its franchisees.
"We've spent our first seven years as a franchisor establishing our brand identity through measured growth and close attention to the retail environment. With our franchisees' help, we're now setting the stage for even more aggressive growth," Jones said.
An article in the January "Franchise 500" issue of Entrepreneur explains the criteria used for selecting the top 500 franchises.
"All companies, regardless of size, are judged by the same criteria. The most important factors include financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the system. We also consider the number of years a company has been in business and the length of time it's been franchising, startup costs, litigation, percentage of terminations and whether the company provides financing. Financial data is analyzed by an independent CPA."
Dippin' Dots Franchising, Inc. sells and supports franchised ice cream shops and kiosks featuring Dippin' Dots and other desserts made from the unique beads of ice cream. The company opened its franchise division in 2000. Currently, 180 franchisees operate a total of 445 franchises in the United States.
Dippin' Dots, Inc. celebrates its 20th year in business in 2008. The privately-held company was founded by Jones and his family.
